the kona coffee here is the obvious starting point, and if you're visiting honolulu's ala moana area with any intention of drinking well, ali'i coffee co. at 1200 ala moana blvd is worth your time. locally grown hawaiian coffee doesn't show up this seriously at every shop, and there's something different about drinking it close to where it actually comes from. the regulars here are loyal in the specific way that means something, not just habitual. you get the sense that the people coming back aren't doing so out of convenience. ala moana is busy, tourist-facing, easy to pass through without stopping anywhere good. stop here. order the kona.
