alkana takes its coffee seriously, and you can feel that in the way the place has built a following in sakae without making a performance of it. naka ward isn't short on places to sit with a cup, but the fourth floor address on sakae 3-chome draws people back repeatedly, which says more than any single visit could. specialty coffee in nagoya has grown into something real over the past decade, and alkana sits within that current rather than apart from it. if you're mapping a day around chūbu's dining and shopping district, the climb to the fourth floor is a reasonable commitment. go mid-morning, before the sakae lunch crowd shifts the rhythm of the whole block.
