specialty coffee in a seaside market town is harder to pull off than it sounds. pwllheli sits at the end of the lleyn peninsula, the kind of place where most visitors are passing through to somewhere quieter, and the locals have seen plenty of businesses come and go. allports on maes has stayed, and stayed well regarded, which says more than any opening pitch could. you don't land that kind of local trust by accident. the coffee is the point here, not a sideline to a lunch menu, and that focus tends to show in the cup. if you're in town and the afternoon is starting to drag, maes is a short walk from wherever you've parked, and a flat white is a good reason to stop.
