uluwatu has a different rhythm to the rest of bali. the surf crowd, the clifftop temples, the late mornings that bleed into afternoon without anyone really noticing. anjoe cafe sits on jl. karma kandara in ungasan, and if you're moving through kuta selatan with any intention, this is the kind of place that keeps pulling people back. the regulars here are consistent and loyal in a way that says something about what's actually being offered, not just the convenience of location. specialty coffee in this corner of badung kabupaten doesn't always land well, but anjoe seems to have figured something out. come for the morning hours, when ungasan is still cool and the day hasn't committed to anything yet, and order the coffee black.
