isahaya doesn't have the density of coffee shops you'd find in nagasaki city, which makes the ones that do exist carry a bit more weight. base cafe, on sakaemachi, sits inside the aereast building on the ground floor, an address that puts it right in the flow of the city rather than tucked away somewhere you'd only stumble on by accident. the local crowd has taken to it with real consistency, which says something about how it fits into the rhythm of a mid-sized nagasaki prefecture city where people are particular about where they spend their time. if you're passing through isahaya or spending a morning there, sakaemachi is a reasonable place to anchor yourself, and base cafe is a reasonable place to start.
