good coffee in ciutat vella isn't always easy to find, given how much of the neighborhood runs on tourist traffic and quick turnover. beanywood café store on carrer del duc sits a little apart from that. it's a small street, quieter than you'd expect for the 08002, and the café has built something genuinely local in a part of barcelona that doesn't always reward that kind of patience. the people who come back here, and they do come back, aren't doing it out of habit alone. if you're spending a morning in the gothic quarter and want to actually stop rather than just refuel, carrer del duc is worth the slight detour. the afternoon light on that street, and an unhurried flat white, are a reasonable argument for slowing down.
