paris has gotten serious about specialty coffee over the last decade, and the 18th arrondissement has quietly become one of the more interesting places to track that shift. bon jo, on rue lamarck up near the base of montmartre, sits in a part of the city that moves at its own pace, somewhere between the tourist pull of the butte and the quieter residential blocks below it. the regulars here are genuinely devoted, which in a neighborhood with options says something. you don't end up that loyal to a place without a reason. the coffee is the reason. if you're in the area on a weekday morning, rue lamarck before the hill gets busy is a good time to find out for yourself.
