you're on st james square, which puts you right in the middle of edinburgh's new town grid, close enough to the bustle of princes street that you'd expect the usual grab-and-go options. bonnie & wild is a different proposition. it's the kind of place you end up staying longer than planned, especially if you came in thinking brunch was a quick affair. the menu leans into the meal properly, not as an afterthought bolted onto a coffee list. locals have clearly worked this out, and the place has built a real following because of it. if you're in the area on a weekend morning, make your way to 415-417 st james square before the brunch crowd does.
