stanhope street in bushwick doesn't get a lot of foot traffic from people who aren't already heading somewhere specific, which is part of why c m coffee shop works. you're not stumbling in here between tourist stops. it's the kind of place that suits a slow tuesday morning or a Saturday where you've got nowhere to be until noon, the sort of visit where you want somewhere quiet and dependable rather than somewhere trying to impress you. brooklyn has no shortage of specialty coffee at this point, but local reputation still means something in a neighborhood where people come back regularly rather than once for the photo. the cortado is a good reason to make the trip down stanhope.
