something about high street that keeps pulling people back, and c1 espresso is a decent part of why. the old post and telegraph building on 185 high street gives you a location that actually has some weight to it, a christchurch central city address that predates the endless rebuild-era sameness. you don't have to hunt for it. c1 has built a genuine local following without making a spectacle of itself, which in a mid-sized city takes longer than people assume. the coffee is taken seriously here, and the locals who keep coming back seem to agree that it holds up visit after visit. a good place to land on a weekday morning before the city centre gets noisy.
