kamakura has a quieter coffee identity than tokyo, built around cafes that suit a city people visit to slow down. the specialty scene here is small but considered, and café de fleur, on komachi-dori, sits in the middle of it without trying to shout. komachi is kamakura's main shopping street, busy enough that you'd expect the places along it to play it safe, but café de fleur has built a following that suggests it isn't doing that. the ratings back this up, consistently and across enough opinions to mean something. if you're coming off the street after the shrines and the crowds, this is a reasonable place to stop and recalibrate. worth arriving before the afternoon rush, when komachi is at its noisiest.
