cafe 22 takes its coffee seriously, and you'll notice immediately. meadowfield isn't a neighbourhood people tend to romanticise, city west business park even less so, but that's almost the point. a place that pulls a crowd this loyal on the edge of an industrial estate in county durham isn't doing it through foot traffic or a flattering postcode. it's doing it through consistency. regulars don't drive out to unit 10 for something approximate. the standing this place has built among the people who actually know it is the kind that takes years and doesn't come from hype. if you're heading out from durham city centre, give yourself a few extra minutes. it's worth the extra turn off the a690 for a flat white done properly.
