akron's specialty coffee scene is smaller than cleveland's or columbus's, which means the places that do it well tend to become genuinely important to the people who find them. cafe 36 on ghent road is one of those places. the regulars here aren't casual about it, and that kind of loyalty in a mid-sized ohio city doesn't accumulate without good reason. if you're coming from the west akron side, ghent road puts you right at the edge of where the city starts feeling suburban without fully committing to it, and cafe 36 seems to suit that in-between quality. grounded, consistent, the kind of spot you return to on a tuesday morning just as readily as a weekend.
