the coffee here holds up on one of paris's most walked streets, which is genuinely harder than it sounds. you're on the champs-élysées, meaning the foot traffic never really stops and the expectations arriving through the door aren't always charitable. café joyeux manages anyway. the flat white is a reasonable place to start, clean and well-balanced without making a show of itself. the café crème sits comfortably in french tradition, worth trying if you want something that feels appropriate to both the city and the hour. being well regarded locally on a stretch this touristy takes something, and this place has it without announcing the fact. if you're hitting the avenue in the morning, this is a sensible stop before the crowds thicken on the av. des champs-élysées by midday.
