good coffee in obihiro takes a little knowing where to look, and hakurindai kitamachi is not the first neighbourhood most visitors think of. but that's part of why 日本茶cafe茶淹香 has built the reputation it has, quietly and on its own terms. the shop sits on 1-chome in that quieter northern stretch of the city, away from the busier central strips, which means the people coming through the door are largely there because they meant to be. you don't wander in by accident from a busy tourist beat. the combination of japanese tea and specialty coffee under one roof isn't a gimmick here, it's just what the place does, and locals have responded to that honestly. worth going on a weekday morning, when the neighbourhood is unhurried and so is the coffee.
