steep hill leads down to something special at cafe rio. the 4.9 stars from 108 google reviews tell part of the story, but not the whole thing. what really matters is how the barista knows your order by your third visit, the way steam hisses from properly heated milk, the ceramic warmth between your palms while salt air drifts through the door. this isn't chain coffee. you taste the difference immediately. each cup carries the kind of care that keeps maidencombe beach regulars coming back, even when the wind picks up off the english channel. the sup and kayak crowd stops by before hitting the water, but plenty of people make the trip down steep hill just for what's in the cup. coffee this good doesn't need a beach view to justify itself, but having both doesn't hurt.
