carugate doesn't get much tourist foot traffic, and caffelatte 2 seems perfectly fine with that. via enrico mattei is a working street in a working town outside milan, and this place fits that context without apology. what you get here is specialty coffee taken seriously in a setting that has no interest in performing for outsiders. the local standing isn't an accident of geography, it's the result of showing up consistently for people who come back week after week because they actually like what's in their cup. if you're cutting across the hinterland between milan and bergamo and need a real stop, this is the one. the espresso in the morning is where it earns that loyalty.
