you're on the station building in porthmadog, a town that sits at the edge of snowdonia where the ffestiniog railway still runs its narrow-gauge trains down from the slate mountains. caffi russell's has set up here, in a spot with genuine foot traffic and a reason to stop. locals clearly think it's worth their time, and that kind of quiet, consistent approval is harder to build than a launch week. if you're passing through on your way into or out of the national park, or just spending a slow morning in the town, it's the kind of place that doesn't ask much of you. just order something. the flat white on a tuesday morning, before the day gets complicated, is a reasonable place to start.
