Carvalho's Cafe in London, specialty coffee cafe

somewhere between tooting and streatham, natal road doesn't make a big noise about itself, and neither does carvalho's. which is partly why it works. the organic focus is genuine, not decorative, and if you're the kind of person who actually reads what's in your food, the vegetarian-friendly menu gives you something to think about beyond the coffee. breakfast and brunch are the obvious draws, but the desserts have their own following among the regulars who clearly keep coming back. the coffee is taken seriously here, full stop. not as a concept, just in practice. specialty, organic, no corners cut. if you're making a morning of it in sw16, the brunch is the move.
