the cortado is a good place to start at castello coffee, a small shop on douglas street that quietly holds its own in victoria's specialty scene. you're not going to get a lot of theatre here, just coffee that's been thought about. douglas street itself is a busy corridor, practical more than pretty, which makes a place like this useful in the best sense: it's on the way to somewhere, and sometimes it becomes the reason you left early. the local following castello has built says something about consistency, not luck. if you're in the area mid-morning, the cortado still stands as the move.
