you're on normanton road, which cuts through one of derby's more lived-in stretches, the kind of area where people actually work and move around rather than mill about for the sake of it. rosehill business centre sits along that same stretch, and chaiiwala is there if you know to look. the chai focus is real, not a gimmick, and if you've only ever thought of chai as something that comes powdered from a machine, this is a reasonable place to rethink that. the reviews are consistently strong, which tends to mean something when the venue is this unglamorous in location. not a destination neighbourhood. just a good stop. worth timing your visit around a mid-morning cup when normanton road is still finding its rhythm.
