the coffee here holds up in the kind of weather butte actually throws at you. if you're on harrison ave and the wind is doing what the wind in butte does, a well-pulled espresso or a solid drip coffee is going to feel less like a choice and more like a given. city brew has built genuine local standing over time, which in a working-class mining city doesn't happen by being middling about things. you won't find a lot of pretension on this stretch of harrison, and the shop fits that. butte runs on early mornings and long days, and the coffee here keeps pace with that. worth going before noon, when the espresso drinks are pulling at their best.
