you're on station road, close enough to york's main railway station that you half-expect every café around here to be running on autopilot, serving whoever rolls a suitcase past the door. coffee room isn't doing that. it pulls in people who came specifically, not incidentally, and that kind of local loyalty in a transient spot like this says something about what they're getting right. york itself is a city that leans hard into its history, but this stretch near the station is practical, lived-in, useful, and coffee room fits that register well. if you're arriving into york and need a proper flat white before you work out where you're going, station road yo24 is a reasonable first stop.
