if you've got a few hours to fill on market street and you'd rather not spend them in a chain, copper city tends to be the answer. nottingham's city centre moves fast in that stretch near the old market square, and having a genuinely independent place at 27-33 market st that people actually return to says more than any award could. you don't get that kind of local loyalty by accident, or by cutting corners on what goes in the cup. the weekday crowd leans toward laptop sessions and quick stops between meetings. weekends slow things down a bit. either way, it's worth timing a visit around a morning cortado before the market street foot traffic picks up.
