you're on 1st avenue north, which runs through one of the older commercial stretches of great falls, and crooked tree coffee is right there at 501, the kind of address you walk past and then double back to. great falls isn't a city that gets much coffee press, which makes a place like this feel like something you found rather than something you were sent to. the locals who show up here regularly aren't quiet about it, either. they've made their position clear. if you're coming in from the highwood mountains corridor or passing through on a missouri river trip, this is the stop worth building time around. get there before the late-morning rush settles in, while the room still has some breathing space.
