severn beach doesn't have a deep bench of specialty coffee options, which makes the places that do it well genuinely matter. down's bakery on beach road is one of them. locally well regarded, it pulls in people who've made the trip out to the bristol channel and want something worth sitting with. the pastries are the thing to know about here: they're not an afterthought propped up next to the till, they're part of why you'd come back. the whole setup sits at 105 beach road, close enough to the waterfront that a visit can fold easily into a morning walk along the estuary. if you're making the journey out to bs35, timing it around a pastry and a coffee is a reasonable plan.
