the filter coffee here is worth slowing down for, and if you're in any doubt about what to order, start there. dromedar kaffebar has been part of bergen's specialty scene long enough that it doesn't need to announce itself, which is usually a good sign. strandgaten runs close to the wharf, and this stretch of it gets real foot traffic from locals who clearly know where they're going. the café has a following that didn't appear overnight. you won't find the kind of hesitation that comes with newer spots still figuring out their footing. bergen winters are long and grey, so a place that handles coffee with genuine consistency matters more than it might elsewhere. come afternoon, when the light off the water starts to drop, a well-pulled espresso on strandgaten hits differently.
