duke street doesn't get a lot of foot traffic compared to the town centre, which means the people who end up at duke bombay cafe on dl3 usually mean to be there. that's not nothing. darlington has plenty of places to grab a coffee, but a shop that builds a local reputation without a chain's marketing budget is doing something right at the cup level. you don't stumble into a place like this twice by accident. the neighbourhood is quiet enough that the cafe has to pull its weight on quality alone, and by all accounts it does. if you're in the area on a weekday morning, duke street at that hour is about as unhurried as darlington gets.
