the flat white is a good place to start here. eastern bloc sits on stevenson square, which puts it right in the northern quarter, manchester's densest stretch of independent shops and studios, and the kind of area where a coffee shop has to actually be good to survive. you're not going to wander in by accident from a tourist trail. the locals who come here know what they're looking for, and the place holds up to that. it's well regarded for a reason that has nothing to do with hype. if you're in the area on a weekday morning, stevenson square is quieter than the main drag and worth the short detour, flat white in hand.
