somewhere between brixton and herne hill, effra parade doesn't get a lot of foot traffic from people just passing through. you have to mean it. that's probably why effra space has built the kind of following it has, people who come back not out of habit but out of preference. sw2 isn't a neighbourhood that needs to perform for anyone, and the café fits that energy. the regulars here are genuinely loyal, which in london means something, because londoners have options and short memories. if you're coming from brixton station, it's a ten-minute walk south down effra road, and that small friction filters the crowd. worth it for a flat white on a slow weekday morning when effra parade is still quiet.
