slow mornings in the lace market tend to work out better with a plan, and heathcoat street is a reasonable one. effy sits at 20a, just far enough from the main drag that you're not fighting for a table with half of nottingham's tourist foot traffic. the people who come back here do so with some regularity, which tends to mean something in a city where options have genuinely multiplied. it's not a loud place in the way new openings often are. what you get instead is a specialty coffee shop that's settled into its neighbourhood without making a performance of it. weekday mornings work well if you've got a laptop and a deadline. so does a saturday with nowhere particular to be. either way, you're probably finishing on a flat white before the hour is out.
