el fishawy cafe has been open continuously since 1773, making it one of the oldest cafes in the world still trading. located in the heart of Khan el-Khalili bazaar in Cairo, it has never closed, not for wars, not for holidays, not for anything. mirrored walls, brass lanterns, and wooden chairs fill the narrow space, where vendors and tourists have sat side by side for centuries.
