james chen walked away from the nordic roaster competition in 2013 as the first non-nordic winner ever. that's not a footnote, that's the whole story of fika fika. his cafe on yitong street near it park has been pulling light, clean, scandinavian-leaning roasts through taipei's humidity since that same year, and the swedes were right about one thing, fika, meaning a proper coffee break, deserves a dedicated word. big 7 travel noticed. so did taipei. go on a weekday if you can.
