the hot chocolate here is the reason to visit, full stop. fjåk is a bean-to-bar chocolate operation that also does coffee, which means you're not getting a generic supermarket-grade powder stirred into milk. the chocolate is the point. skostredet is a quiet side street in bergen's old town, the kind of place you find on foot rather than by accident, and fjåk sits there doing something genuinely specific: sourcing and processing cacao, then building a café menu around that. if you're a coffee person first, that's fine, the espresso drinks benefit from the same attentiveness that goes into the chocolate side of things. but if you leave without trying something from the chocolate menu, you've made your own life harder. come in the afternoon, when bergen's grey light is doing its thing outside, and order the drinking chocolate.
