a good coffee shop in a small welsh town is harder to find than it should be, and market street isn't somewhere you stumble past on the way to somewhere else. george's cafe at number four has built the kind of loyalty that takes years to get right, the sort where locals don't really consider anywhere else. you don't need a reason to stop in beyond the fact that it's there and it's good. llangollen itself draws people in for the river, the canal, the ruins up on the hill, but george's sits in the middle of all that foot traffic and just gets on with it. the coffee holds up. worth timing your walk along the dee for a cup here mid-morning.
