the cortado is worth building your morning around. lincoln avenue in lincoln square has this particular rhythm to it, unhurried but purposeful, and geraldine's fits that tempo without trying hard. you get the sense that people here have been coming long enough that the visit itself is the point, not just the caffeine. the regulars clearly think something's working, and that kind of loyalty on a street full of options doesn't come from nowhere. it's the sort of place where the coffee is taken seriously but the atmosphere doesn't make you feel like it's a performance. if you're heading north on lincoln, stop before you keep going. the cortado's waiting.
