you're on detroit avenue, which runs through ohio city and into gordon square, one of cleveland's more genuinely lived-in stretches of west side commercial street. gypsy beans sits at 6425, and if you've spent any time in this part of the city you already know the block has a particular texture to it, independent businesses that feel like they belong to the neighborhood rather than to a brand manual. the locals here are loyal in the way that only happens when a place consistently does right by them, visit after visit. it's not the kind of standing you accumulate quickly. if you're coming from downtown, detroit avenue is worth the drive on its own, and gypsy beans gives you a reason to stop before you head back.
