hair&café valeur does two things at once, and does both without apology. that combination, coffee and hair care sharing the same address on kitaishidocho in nagano, sounds like a gimmick until you're actually there. it isn't. the regulars who keep coming back to the vieux building aren't drawn by novelty, they're drawn by consistency, which is a harder thing to build and a much harder thing to fake. nagano isn't a city that rewards half-measures, and valeur seems to understand that. you don't need to know anything about specialty coffee going in. the place doesn't ask that of you. what it does ask is that you slow down a little, which kitaishidocho on a quiet afternoon is already nudging you toward anyway.
