ketchum sits at the edge of sun valley's ski terrain, which means the coffee scene here has to work harder than most resort towns. skiers, hikers, locals doing a tuesday morning like it's nothing, they all need somewhere that doesn't disappoint. java on fourth, over on 4th street west, has built a reputation among that mix without making a spectacle of it. you don't have to take anyone's word for it, the place is well regarded for a reason, and in a town this size, word travels fast and bad coffee gets found out quickly. small-town accountability is its own quality filter. if you're moving through ketchum and need to plant yourself somewhere for an hour, 4th street west is a reasonable place to start your morning.
