midtown can feel relentless, especially around 54th and fifth, where the foot traffic moves like it has somewhere more important to be than wherever you're going. jordy palu cafe sits on west 54th street, which puts it close enough to moma and rockefeller center that you'd expect the coffee to be an afterthought, a concession to foot traffic. it isn't. the reviews here are consistently strong, and that kind of standing in a neighborhood that could easily coast on location takes something more than convenience. if your morning has a gap before a meeting, or you need an hour that doesn't feel like a transaction, this is a reasonable place to spend it. the cortado is worth arriving early for.
