kelapa gading isn't the part of jakarta most visitors think to explore, but if you're already up in the north and need somewhere to slow down for an hour, jl. tarian raya timur is a reasonable answer. kocil specialty coffee sits on that street in pegangsaan dua, and the crowd it draws keeps coming back, which in a city with this many coffee options means something. the shop handles the kind of mid-morning visit where you want a single well-made drink and a table that doesn't rush you out. jakarta's specialty scene has gotten genuinely competitive over the last few years, and places in kec. klp. gading have had to keep up or lose regulars fast. kocil, by all accounts, hasn't lost them. worth timing your visit for a weekday morning cortado before the lunch crowd arrives.
