good coffee in groningen keeps pulling you back to oude kijk in 't jatstraat, and koffiestation is a big part of why. it sits on one of the older streets in the city center, which already puts you in the right headspace before you've ordered anything. the combination of books and coffee isn't a gimmick here, it's just how the place is set up, and that says something about what the people running it actually care about. very strongly regarded by the people who come back regularly, and in a university city with genuinely high expectations, that kind of loyalty is hard to sustain without consistently getting things right. worth making the walk down that street on a weekday morning, when the city hasn't fully woken up yet.
