good coffee in paris's 7th arrondissement can be harder to find than you'd think, given how much of the neighbourhood runs on tourist-facing brasserie culture. la casa di alfio, on avenue de la bourdonnais, sits close enough to the eiffel tower that it could easily coast on foot traffic alone, and the fact that it doesn't says something about the priorities here. locals in this part of the city tend to be discerning and unbothered by novelty for its own sake, so when a place builds a real reputation in the 7ème, it's usually because the coffee is consistently worth returning for. if you're in the area mid-morning, before the avenue fills up, that's when it counts.
