les artistes takes its coffee seriously, and rue didot feels like the right place for that kind of quiet conviction. the 14th arrondissement doesn't get the foot traffic of the marais or saint-germain, which means the people who end up at 60 rue didot are mostly there on purpose. regulars come back, and keep coming back, which says more than most things could. you don't build that kind of loyalty by coasting. the neighborhood has a settled, unhurried quality to it, and the café fits that rhythm without feeling like it's trying to. if you're making your way through the southern end of paris, this is the kind of stop that earns a second coffee before you leave.
