slow mornings on lytton avenue have a particular rhythm, and mademoiselle colette fits into that rhythm without forcing anything. this is the kind of place you come to when you actually want to sit, when the work in front of you needs more than a drive-through coffee and a parking lot. palo alto's downtown stretch can feel transactional, but this block tends to slow people down a little. the shop has built a genuine local following, which takes consistency and not much else, really. nothing about a place like this stays well regarded by accident. if you're planning a visit, a weekday mid-morning tends to be the sweet spot, before the lunch crowd shifts the energy, while lytton is still quiet enough to hear yourself think.
