the coffee and barber combination isn't as odd as it sounds, and on jl. tegal parang selatan it seems to work well enough that locals keep coming back. mr. r has built a following in mampang prpt., a south jakarta neighbourhood that doesn't lack for café options but clearly has room for a place that commits to doing two things at once without letting either slide. you get the sense that the specialty coffee side is taken seriously here, not treated as a side note to the haircuts. the address puts you slightly off the main drag, which probably suits the crowd that finds it. worth arriving for a coffee when the afternoon heat starts to ease and tegal parang settles into its quieter rhythm.
