mrs b's tearoom does one thing uncommonly well: it takes the tearoom format seriously without turning it into a museum piece. wells-next-the-sea is a small norfolk harbour town, the kind of place where the visitor population shifts dramatically between january and august, and staithe street sits right in the middle of that seasonal churn. what holds up year-round is the quality of what's in the cup. you don't come here for novelty, you come because the standards are consistent and the space isn't performing anything. locally, the reputation is solid and largely uncontested. if you're arriving off the coastal path or after the harbour car park, staithe street puts mrs b's almost immediately in your path. the mid-morning pot of tea is the move.
