you're on chalk farm road, which is one of those london streets that moves fast and doesn't particularly care whether you stop or not. my village hawraman cafe bar, at number 38, gives you a reason to. the regulars here clearly feel that pull, coming back in a way that says something about consistency rather than novelty. chalk farm sits at an interesting edge of the city, close enough to camden's noise but with enough of its own character that people actually live here rather than just pass through. you get the sense this place fits that texture. not a destination cafe performing for visitors, just somewhere that holds its ground. whatever you're ordering, the flat white on a quieter weekday morning is probably your best move.
