covent garden moves fast, and neal street moves with it. but 34 neal st is the kind of place that holds its ground. the espresso here is taken seriously, not as a novelty or a point of difference but as the whole point, which is a rarer thing than it should be in a city this size. you'll find it tucked into a stretch of neal street that still has real character, away from the tourist drag a few blocks over. the regulars keep coming back, and that kind of loyalty doesn't appear from nowhere. if you're in wc2 and you want a straight espresso done well, this is where to start.
