aberdeen's specialty coffee scene is smaller than edinburgh or glasgow's, but that makes the good spots easier to find. neil selbie & co, out on north deeside road in peterculter, is one of them. you're a solid few miles southwest of the city centre here, past the point where the suburbs thin and the deeside corridor opens up, which gives the place a different pull than your average urban café. people don't stumble in. they come because they mean to. that kind of intentional customer base tends to keep standards honest, and by all accounts this one has held up well over time. if you're heading out that way, the coffee on north deeside road is a better reason to stop than most things along the route.
